Why I Stopped Saying 'Someday': My Arctic SnowHotel Journey
So is your bucket list filled with ice or snow?
Mine had see an ice hotel on my list. Forever.
How cool would that be right? I almost didn't book this trip—and that still bothers me.
What came next?
From Dreaming to Doing
Have you seen an ice hotel in a favorite TV show or movie?
Is it on your bucket list to visit once since that day? Do you have access to the internet?
Then what's stopping you from taking the plunge and booking a trip?
I am admittedly obsessed with Hallmark Channel Christmas movies. Has there been a few with Ice Hotels? You betcha!
When we booked our December trip to see European Christmas markets, we expanded our journey north and guess what???? There it was on my screen the Arctic SnowHotel-made of ice-near where we were planning on staying.
All I had to do was find the click here, buy now and it was on my itinerary!!! Bus transfers included.
That easy! What are you waiting for-if you found this blog, you can book your visit to a hotel made of ice and snow.
From Planning to Playing:
What reasons have you created about why you can’t see an ice hotel?
Would you pay more than 800 Euros to sleep in what feels like a freezer?
What if there was no heat or windows? What kind of hotel is this?
What if I have to go to the bathroom? Congratulations-you too have become your mother right? Lol
Is it cold? Well yes, that is how ice works best.
What was the reality of experiencing life inside a hotel made of ice and snow?
Worth it-YES, perfect visit time of the 1130am trip.
Not crowded and the hotel opened 4 days before we arrived, so the designs were freshly carved in the ice.
The brief introductory presentation was informative, and the self-guided tour followed.
We were not rushed at all. In fact we were the only ones in the rooms.
And for you high drama, worried types? It’s highly unlikely you'll freeze to death on this adventure.
What Fear Almost Kept Me From Booking?
I wasn’t sure how I would be inside without any windows, but the beauty of the ice carvings and lighting was enough to distract me from my fear.
There were other people around, including guides so visitors were not alone.
I traveled, earned the money to spend it and you might not get a chance to do this again. So I made sure I was ready to go!
What Are You Waiting For??

Why did you take pictures when it’s cloudy?
This particular day, was cloudy with snow coming in later.
When the sun comes “up”, it starts about 10:00am and sets about 3:00pm (1500h).
I think this absolutely confirmed that I have Finnish ancestors as those are my peak hours of happiness.
So it is pitch black dark of night the rest of the day?
Yes. It gets dark quickly. The beauty of the short day, the sky has pastel colors (called Alpenglow). It’s not a sunny beach day but enough light to let you know the sun is still out there.
