Is a Visit to the Arctic SnowHotel Worth It?

Updated May 2026

Quick answer: Yes, if bucket-list Arctic experiences excite you and you can handle extreme cold. Not for cold-averse travelers. Budget €300-500/day (lodging, meals, activities, transport from Rovaniemi).

A room with a cozy campfire feel at the Arctic Snowhotel.

YES!!!!!!

Totally worth the price I paid which included transportation, a short presentation, self-guided tour, and a very bright blue drink in a glass made of ice.

Do you want to live out your fantasy of visiting a hotel made of Ice and Snow? Well get out those euros, it will cost several hundred for an overnight stay. Too much money? Then try a day visit like I did.

I almost talked myself out of going—did we have enough time, was it worth the cost?—but after visiting, I can tell you it exceeded expectations. You can’t buy a lot of dreams, or take the money with you, so which one will you choose?

Budget Reality: What It Actually Costs

If an overnight stay isn't in your plans, a guided tour is an excellent alternative—and exactly what I chose. For €205.14 for two people, here's what you get:

Price Breakdown:

  • 2 Adult tickets: €74.56 each

  • Ice Bar experience: €9.96 per drink (served in ice glasses with your ticket—additional drink options available at the bar)

  • Pickup and return by motorcoach from Santa Claus Village included

  • Taxes and fees: €36.10

What to Expect(from our ticket confirmation email):

Upon arrival, a guide greets you for a welcome presentation before you explore the stunning ice hotel at your own pace. While it's technically called a "guided tour," most of your time is self-guided—giving you the freedom to linger in the rooms that captivate you most.

Insider Tips:

The on-site coffee shop and snack bar are perfect for warming up afterward. If you're planning to make an afternoon of it, consider booking a table at the Kota restaurant.

And here's a quirky detail for the curious: look up when you arrive. There's a giant metal mosquito sculpture perched on the roof by the entrance—a delightfully odd Finnish touch you won't want to miss!

Is it dark all the time during winter in Finland? No, this is a good example of the “daylight” around noon.
